Dirk Fairweather has more than 20 years experience in a wide range of commercial and corporate litigation and dispute resolution matters, as well as related strategic advisory matters. He conducts and manages complex, significant and high profile proceedings before superior courts, as well as arbitration proceedings and mediations.
Dirk has particular experience in relation to corporations matters including corporate governance and directors’ duties, shareholder oppression proceedings and access to company books and records; issues arising out of insolvency and near insolvency scenarios; and a variety of regulatory, compliance and enforcement matters.
He regularly appears as counsel in hearings before the Supreme Court of Western Australia and Federal Court of Australia, and also works closely with Senior Counsel in significant cases.
Prior to establishing Fairweather Litigation, Dirk was responsible for building commercial litigation and dispute resolution practices at Cardinal Litigation + Dispute Resolution and Allion Legal, and previously worked as a Senior Associate in the commercial litigation and dispute resolution division of Allens Arthur Robinson and as a Principal of Maxim Litigation Consultants.
Fairweather Litigation was established as an independent practice in order for Dirk to focus on providing strategic and risk management advice to clients (and their boards and other legal and commercial advisers) in relation to current or potential disputes, and to act as counsel in relation to court proceedings where required.
